My approach to Life Changes Counseling
Life is full of ups and downs, plot twists, and unexpected turns. These seasons of life can feel overwhelming and scary, especially if you have no idea how to manage your new reality. Guidance from a counselor can help you navigate life changes with more grounding, peace, and confidence.
Life changes can often cause an individual to question themselves, their decisions, their capabilities, and trigger significant amounts of stress and unease. Feeling uncomfortable by change is a normal experience, but it should not feel all-consuming and debilitating. It is possible to feel a sense of empowerment as you trust your intuition to follow the most aligned path, and I want to help you get there.
My approach to life changes counseling is to first hold space for any and all fears to express themselves. Why is this season of life scary? What exactly feels overwhelming? Who do you need to become in this next chapter, and what parts of yourself do you need to shed? Those are just a few questions we could explore together as you navigate transition. For example, not a lot of people acknowledge the grief that we all move through when life changes. Even if we are changing for the better, we still must mourn our old life and past versions of ourselves to varying degrees.
I also address a fixed vs. growth mindset. In order to smoothly transition, one must believe that their skills and abilities are not fixed, but rather able to be improved upon through time, effort, learning, experimenting, and persevering. We are all capable of growing into more aligned and balanced versions of ourselves, and the first step is believing it is possible.
Together as a team we will navigate your unique period of change and create a framework of healing that aligns with your specific needs. Through open discussion, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and the gentle implementation of tools and practices, I support my clients in strengthening their resilience and confidence as they move through their life transition.
